General Maintenance Support Technician

About The Position

The General Maintenance Support Technician provides hands-on support to the Maintenance team across a variety of facility and campus needs. This role assists with basic electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and general maintenance tasks, including projects such as hanging boards and installing restroom accessories. Additional responsibilities include detailing company vehicles, washing signs throughout campus, transporting vehicles for scheduled maintenance, and helping maintain clean, orderly maintenance buildings. The position works collaboratively with team members and supports other maintenance and facility needs as assigned.

  • Ability to apply logical thinking and job knowledge to responsibly handle practical situations
  • Ability to comprehend and respond to a variety of situations in an expedient manner
  • Good judgment is essential as the role may require independent work
  • Basic addition, subtraction, percentages, multiplication and divisions skills required.
  • Ability to read and write at a High School level.
  • Ability to be conversant in voice and diction so as to participate in discussions with customers, associates, management, supervisors and other company employees both in person and by telephone.
  • Familiarity with location and usage of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Must possess sufficient emotional resilience to operate within a sometimes hectic environment involving simultaneous priorities, rapid response situations, and generally chaotic situations.
  • Must be even-tempered, cool minded, and exhibit a high threshold for frustration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Maintenance team members with basic electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and general facility maintenance tasks.
  • Support installation, repair, and upkeep projects, including hanging boards, installing restroom accessories, and completing other miscellaneous assignments.
  • Inspect work areas, equipment, and facilities; identify maintenance needs and report concerns to the appropriate team member or supervisor.
  • Gather tools, materials, and supplies needed for assigned projects and help keep maintenance inventory organized.
  • Detail company vehicles and wash signs throughout the campus as needed.
  • Transport company vehicles to and from scheduled maintenance or service appointments.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in and around maintenance buildings, including cleaning, organizing, and properly storing tools and materials.
  • Follow established safety procedures and properly use tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
  • Communicate work progress, completed assignments, and any issues or additional needs to the supervisor.
  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance team members and provide support across other facility and campus needs as assigned.
  • Maintain reliable and punctual attendance for scheduled onsite work hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
