About The Position

The General Maintenance Summer Intern assists the Facilities team with the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of campus buildings and grounds. This position provides hands-on experience in building maintenance while working alongside experienced maintenance staff. The intern will learn basic maintenance practices, safe work procedures, and customer service skills in a university environment. This is a temporary position.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Willingness to learn and take direction.
Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Basic problem-solving skills.
Ability to safely use hand tools after receiving training.
Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Assist maintenance staff with routine building maintenance and repair projects.
Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks under supervision.
Help with painting, light carpentry, minor repairs, and general upkeep of campus facilities.
Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and materials as needed.
Support routine inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment.
Follow all University safety policies and procedures while performing assigned duties.
Provide courteous and professional service to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
Work collaboratively with members of the Facilities team.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
