About The Position

The General Maintenance Person (Painting & Finishing) plays a highly visible role in maintaining the appearance, functionality, and safety of resort facilities. This position is responsible for a wide range of interior and exterior building maintenance tasks, with a primary focus on painting, drywall repair, finishing, and cosmetic maintenance. While primarily supporting the Building Maintenance team, this role also works collaboratively across the organization, building strong relationships with other departments to identify maintenance needs, coordinate work, and contribute to projects that enhance the overall guest and team member experience. The General Maintenance Person (Painting & Finishing) reports to the Assistant Supervisor, Building Maintenance.

Requirements

  • Experience in painting, drywall, finishing, building maintenance, or a related trade.
  • Proficient in surface preparation, painting, drywall repair, sanding, staining, and varnishing.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Positive, dependable, and professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • General carpentry and building maintenance experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Complete interior and exterior painting projects, including surface preparation, priming, finishing, and touch-ups.
  • Perform drywall installation, repairs, mudding, taping, sanding, texturing, and finishing.
  • Apply stains, varnishes, sealers, and other protective finishes to wood and other building materials.
  • Complete general carpentry and finishing work, including trim, doors, windows, framing, and minor repairs.
  • Assist with building inspections and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on resort facilities.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance duties, including snow and ice removal around buildings and other facility-related tasks.
  • Support other Building Maintenance team members and contractors as operational needs require.
  • Complete required documentation, including daily reports, maintenance logs, inspections, and safe work plans.
  • Report maintenance deficiencies, safety concerns, and unusual operating conditions promptly.
  • Follow and promote all company policies, safety procedures, manufacturer guidelines, applicable legislation, fire and building codes, Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and Parks Canada requirements.
  • Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
