About The Position

UPMC is hiring a Full-time, General Maintenance 2 to support the hospital at Lititz. In this role, you will handle a variety of tasks each day, supporting multiple trades based on the department’s needs. This position is ideal for someone who has completed trade school or has experience in one trade and is eager to learn and grow their skills in others. The schedule is Friday-Tuesday 6:30 am-3:00 pm (Day Shift). The final candidate will be hired within the career ladder based on their education and experience. Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma/GED is required.
  • A total of 2 years of general maintenance-related work experience is required.
  • Driver's License
  • Act 34

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Completion of a High School Vocational program or Trade School is preferred.
  • Military experience considered.
  • Completion of an Associates Degree, a Two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program or an Apprenticeship in a Trade.
  • 4 years of general maintenance work experience working in a healthcare or commercial environment is required.
  • Completion of an Associates Degree, a Two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program or an Apprenticeship in a Trade is Required.
  • 7 years of general maintenance work experience working in a healthcare or commercial environment is required.
  • Completion of a high school diploma/GED and a Total of 8 years of general maintenance work experience working in a healthcare or commercial environment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
  • Perform specific preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment.
  • Exhibit a basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry/hardware, mechanical equipment and facilities systems.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, i.e., med gas, equipment room rounds, etc.
  • Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
  • Order materials as needed.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures.
  • Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
  • Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Minor repairs and maintaining of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks (soldering), defective pipes and clogged drains.
  • Performs general cleaning duties on equipment and in mechanical support areas.
  • Performs required maintenance, repair and inspection of beds.
  • Ability to perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
