About The Position

Perform a variety of secretarial and administrative functions, sometimes of a confidential nature, for a General Magistrate serving in the Family Law Division.

Requirements

  • Two years of related work experience.
  • High school diploma or GED and two years of college or vocational school education in paralegal, secretarial skills, computer operations, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Word application.
  • Knowledge of the rules of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the general public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish work priorities.
  • Must be professional in all regards.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct phone calls.
  • Communicate with attorneys and pro se litigants regarding court procedures.
  • Open, sort and distribute mail.
  • Handle the coordination and scheduling of post-judgment Family Law hearings, excluding Title IV-D child support issues.
  • Maintain filing and calendaring systems for the General Magistrate.
  • Prepare correspondence, memoranda, travel requests, etc. for submission and approval.
  • Upload recommended orders to JAWS for the Uniform Family Court Judge’s signature.
  • Compile monthly hearing data, prepare and submit child support hearing officer monthly Uniform Data Reporting to the Administrative Office of the Courts.
  • Maintain the dockets, notes and recusal list for the General Magistrate.
  • Order office supplies.
