About The Position
GFL Environmental is seeking reliable and safety-focused General Labourers to join our team in Terrace, BC. The Labourer will ensure items brought to the share shed are suitable for repurposing and will direct customers to properly dispose of any non-accepted items.
Requirements
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Safety-conscious with attention to detail
- Able to stand, walk, and perform light to moderate physical duties
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in waste management, traffic control, or site operations is an asset
- Valid driver’s license considered an asset
Responsibilities
- Check incoming loads for prohibited, hazardous, or recyclable materials to ensure environmental compliance.
- Direct customers and vehicles to appropriate dumping, recycling, or disposal areas in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure all visitors follow site safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE and remaining in designated safe areas.
- Help maintain overall cleanliness of the site, clear debris, and support routine upkeep of work areas.
- Manage access to the site, assist with opening and closing gates, and monitor for unauthorized or illegal dumping activities.
- Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers using the facility.
