About The Position

The General Labourer provides day-to-day support to site operations by assisting with general maintenance, housekeeping, material handling, groundskeeping, and other labour-related activities. This position works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, and other site teams to help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

  • Ability to work around industrial equipment and active work areas.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in general labour, industrial operations, construction, maintenance, warehousing, or a similar environment is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence preferred.
  • Telehandler, skid steer, aerial work platform, or other equipment certifications are considered assets.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is considered an asset.
  • First Aid certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general labour duties throughout the site as assigned.
  • Assist the Maintenance team with routine maintenance activities and basic non-technical tasks.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities under the direction of qualified personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, shops, storage areas, and common spaces.
  • Perform general housekeeping including sweeping, cleaning, garbage removal, and maintaining designated work areas.
  • Assist with snow removal, groundskeeping, and seasonal site maintenance.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, moving, and staging materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Support Warehouse and Logistics activities when required, including organizing and moving materials.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for maintenance work, projects, contractor activities, and site events.
  • Help maintain tools and equipment by cleaning, organizing, and properly storing them after use.
  • Perform basic inspections and report damaged equipment, facility deficiencies, hazards, or maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with minor repairs and general facility upkeep within the employee's training and authorization.
  • Operate company vehicles, forklifts, skid steers, or other equipment when properly trained and authorized.
  • Follow all site access, security, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, training, and other site programs.
  • Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and other required safety documentation before performing applicable work.
  • Report hazards, near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Exercise Stop Work Authority when work cannot be performed safely.
  • Work collaboratively with employees, contractors, and other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on site and operational requirements.
  • All employees are responsible for contributing to a safe workplace. The General Labourer is expected to follow established safety procedures, participate in required training, identify and report hazards, and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
  • Employees must only perform work and operate equipment for which they have received appropriate training and authorization.
