About The Position

The General Laborer is responsible for assisting all areas of the plant. This role involves filling in when shorthanded, participating in cleanup projects, managing corn piles, and assisting with various miscellaneous jobs as assigned across different departments. The position requires flexibility to cover any shift as directed by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent
  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety procedures.
  • Competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in the facility, to maintain rotating and stationary machinery and equipment: industrial size equipment such as lifts and skid steers; variety of hand tools, power tools, testing instruments (laser alignment), welders (acetylene and electric), drills, pipe threaders; limited amount of light electrical work.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with other departments, working to maintain constructive working relationships under all circumstances.
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Proficiency in working with various software programs.
  • Maintains good attendance habits.
  • Proficient in mathematics.
  • Abide by all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
  • Abide by company’s safety, quality, environmental and HR policies at all times.
  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit.
  • Frequently required to climb to levels of 125 feet or more, confined and harnessed.
  • Use of stairs and ladders are required.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
  • This position requires the use of a respirator.

Nice To Haves

  • A Post Secondary education and or technical trade certificate is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the ethanol production process and technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Operator duties during times of absence or as directed.
  • Perform Material Handler duties during times of absence or as directed.
  • Manage corn piles throughout the year.
  • Assist maintenance technicians with special projects.
  • Oversee and ensure a clean and safe working environment throughout the facility.
  • Perform small general duties and participate in projects throughout the facility as directed.
  • Communicate regularly with all necessary personnel to ensure efficient plant operation.
  • Assist all other employees and departments as required for efficient plant operation.
  • Provide a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.
  • Abide by all safety, health, environmental and food/feed safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workstation/environment at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
