About The Position

EMI Services is hiring a General Laborer! Primary responsibility of the General Laborer is to take up manual labor tasks and support operations on worksites. One of the most important General Laborer duties is to collect trash, debris and other waste to keep the site clean and safe. General Laborers also handle power tools and materials (such as saws and drills). The ideal EMI General Laborer has stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads while staying on task and committed to safety.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or are you willing and able to obtain one
  • Class B
  • Regular, dependable attendance
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
  • Apprenticeship or craft experience

Responsibilities

  • Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material
  • Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site
  • Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts) when needed
  • Handle and transport materials (e.g. cement) and equipment (e.g. drills and grinders)
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (e.g. digging, stacking up goods)
  • Put up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
  • Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding)
  • Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
