About The Position

The O&M Vegetation Control Technician is responsible for lawn care and grounds maintenance at utility-scale and commercial solar energy facilities. This role ensures vegetation is managed safely and effectively to maintain site access, equipment performance, and compliance with environmental and safety standards. Work is performed outdoors year-round and may involve travel between multiple solar sites.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate commercial mowing and trimming equipment
  • Knowledge of vegetation control best practices and environmental considerations
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must comply with all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Must wear required PPE at all times

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in lawn care, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or vegetation management preferred
  • Experience working around solar facilities, utilities, or industrial sites is a plus
  • Herbicide applicator license (or willingness to obtain) may be required depending on role and location

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine vegetation control at solar facilities, including mowing, trimming, edging, and brush cutting
  • Maintain clear access to solar panels, inverters, combiner boxes, trackers, and access roads
  • Operate lawn care and grounds maintenance equipment such as zero-turn mowers, string trimmers, brush cutters, and handheld tools
  • Apply herbicides and other vegetation treatments in accordance with company policy, environmental regulations, and site-specific requirements (if licensed/authorized)
  • Identify and report site issues such as erosion, fencing damage, drainage concerns, or unsafe conditions
  • Follow all safety procedures, including solar site safety, PPE requirements, and equipment operation guidelines
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe working condition
  • Accurately complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance logs
  • Coordinate with O&M technicians, site managers, and supervisors to support overall site operations
  • Support storm response and corrective maintenance related to vegetation as needed
