About The Position

VEA Connect is seeking a General Laborer to assist Fiber Technicians with fiber installation, duct preparation, and general field operations. This role involves performing manual labor, site preparation, and ensuring job sites are clean, safe, and organized. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks. This position offers on-the-job training and opportunities for growth into Fiber Technician roles.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license, with a clear driving record
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods)
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel and work extended or irregular hours as needed
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction, outdoor labor, or utility work
  • Exposure to fiber installation or telecommunications projects
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Experience working on active job sites

Responsibilities

  • Assist Fiber Technicians with fiber installation, duct preparation, and general field operations
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment across job sites
  • Perform site preparation including clearing debris, setting barriers, and maintaining work zones
  • Perform manual labor such as trenching, backfilling, potholing, and site cleanup
  • Handle and manage fiber optic cable carefully during installation
  • Support equipment operators and technicians during field operations
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites at all times
  • Follow all company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and site procedures
  • Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support workflow
  • Perform additional tasks as required to support project completion
