About The Position

This position is for a 2nd Shift General Labor Team Member in Vernon, TX, focusing on daily tasks and responsibilities within the bacon slice entry-level role, which includes various sanitation duties. The role often involves assisting the Sanitation department. Duties encompass feeding pork bellies into the slicer, stacking boxes on pallets, and packaging sliced bacon. Sanitation tasks include cleaning offices, washing equipment, maintaining cleanliness of bacon slice lines, organizing and sanitizing the freezer room, cleaning floors, managing trash/cardboard combos, washing cotton gloves, cleaning restrooms, and washing down machines and equipment. All product and tasks must adhere to USDA, Tyson, and customer regulations and specifications. Team members will rotate jobs according to the department schedule. Pork bellies weigh between 10 to 22 lbs, and finished boxed product weighs 10 to 35 lbs. Sanitation tasks may require lifting up to 70 lbs. Team members may be assigned to other departments based on production needs.

Requirements

  • Willing to become certified in scissor lift, pallet jack, and forklift if needed.
  • Willing and able to meet all USDA, Tyson, and customer regulations.
  • Willing and able to rotate jobs according to department schedule.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willing and able to lift, push, pull 10 to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily tasks and responsibilities of a bacon slice entry-level Team Member.
  • Perform various sanitation duties, often assisting the Sanitation department.
  • Feed pork bellies into the slicer and stack boxes on pallets.
  • Package sliced bacon into boxes or packages (bulk or vacuum).
  • Keep all offices on the plant grounds cleaned and sanitized.
  • Wash hooks, combs, and pallets for the processing department.
  • Keep bacon slice lines cleaned by picking up trash and sweeping floors.
  • Keep the freezer room organized and sanitized.
  • Clean floors, pick up pieces off the floors, and keep Derind sanitized.
  • Keep trash/cardboard combos emptied and supply production with empty combos.
  • Keep cotton gloves washed and supplied.
  • Clean restrooms.
  • Wash down machines and equipment as needed.
  • Hang plastic where needed.
  • Meet all USDA, Tyson, and customer regulations and specifications.
  • Rotate jobs according to the department schedule.
  • Lift, push, and pull 10 to 70 lbs.
  • Work in other departments as needed according to production requirements.
