About The Position

Smithfield Foods is seeking motivated individuals to join their team as General Laborers. In this role, you will be crucial in delivering safe, high-quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting your coworkers. Your reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic will contribute to maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and teamwork. You will help foster a positive work environment, ensure an efficient production line, and contribute to the company's mission of delivering good food responsibly.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
• Ability to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
• Ability to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Ability to work with a knife (if trained).
• Ability to work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
• Ability to work in a wet and humid environment.
• Ability to wear a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to work around strong smells/odors.
• Ability to climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
• Ability to walk long distances.
• May require certification to operate various pieces of equipment.
• May require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs.
• May require single lifting of heavy objects up to 60 lbs.
• May require lifting of objects using mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential production tasks.
• Support coworkers.
• Help maintain a safe and efficient production line.
• Process meat products for the consumer using hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment.
• Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
