About The Position

This role involves operating various machinery such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and spinning machines to shape metal, lineal, sheets, tubes, or parts. General labor responsibilities include racking, unracking, and inspecting materials. The position requires adherence to work instructions, quality standards, and production quotas, as well as performing daily machine maintenance and ensuring a clean work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Operates machinery such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, and spinning machines.
  • Shapes, punches, cuts, and bends metal, lineal, sheets, tubes, or parts.
  • Performs general labor responsibilities including racking, unracking, and inspecting.
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Assists machine operators in setting up jobs, stacking, marking, packing, and transporting finished workpieces.
  • Properly gauges parts using gauges.
  • Reads and understands all work instructions, quality instruction, and quantity awareness postings.
  • Clocks in and out of work centers.
  • Fills out and completes all necessary paperwork at the work center.
  • Properly labels all finished material.
  • Works safely and securely.
  • Works as a team and treats people with respect.
  • Meets or exceeds production standards and strives for ways to improve productivity.
  • Packs aluminum products using a banding machine, chop-cut saw, nailer, stretch wrap, and tape.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of work areas, facilities, and grounds.
  • Pushes buttons or depresses pedals to activate machines.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces.
  • Hand loads parts onto racks and off from anodizing racks into proper packaging.
  • Operates the head and tail stretcher.
  • Reads work orders and sets saw stops accordingly.
  • Racks material at the extrusion saw.
  • Operates the extrusion saw and monitors the racker’s functions.
  • Hand loads parts off the extrusion saw table and onto racks or proper packaging.
  • Hand loads parts off the cooling table onto the stretcher, stretches material, and moves it to the extrusion saw carry-over table.
  • Hand loads parts onto and out of the saw and monitors the saw and racker functions.
  • Hand loads parts out of and onto proper packaging.
  • Performs daily machine maintenance.
  • Positions workpieces against stops or aligns layout marks with the die or blade.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions and documents information when required.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to determine the accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs minor tool maintenance such as oiling dies, tools, or workpieces.
