About The Position

The General Helper works under the supervision of certified personnel operators and supports a variety of production, chemical processing, painting, and finishing activities. The position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple departments while developing technical skills, safety knowledge, and an understanding of manufacturing processes. The General Helper performs assigned duties in accordance with Route Card instructions, internal procedures, customer specifications, quality standards, and applicable safety requirements. This position is designed to provide individuals with an opportunity to explore their capabilities and interests across different areas of the organization. Through hands-on training, mentorship, cross-functional exposure, and guidance from experienced team members, employees will have the opportunity to develop new skills and identify areas where they can build their strengths. As employees demonstrate their abilities and interests, management and supervisors will work with them to identify potential career paths, provide appropriate training and development opportunities, and establish a career growth trajectory that supports advancement within the organization and the broader manufacturing industry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. Person status required due to ITAR/export control requirements. For purposes of this position, a U.S. Person is a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Ability and willingness to work safely in a chemical processing and manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, develop new skills, and pursue opportunities for career advancement.
  • Ability to follow and interpret written, oral, diagram, schedule, and production instructions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work effectively in situations with limited standardization.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer literacy in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work effectively with individuals with varying personalities and communication styles.
  • Willingness to learn new processes, accept coaching, and develop skills across multiple departments.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and perform other physical activities required in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to wear a face mask for extended periods, up to four hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • Perform racking, un-racking, loading, unloading, masking, unmasking, cleaning, sanding, blasting, polishing, part marking, touch-up, and other finishing and chemical processing support activities.
  • Assist with production setup, painting preparation, material handling, and departmental workflow.
  • Follow production work orders, Route Cards, drawings, specifications, and written or verbal instructions to meet production requirements.
  • Complete and maintain accurate production, Route Card, written, and visual manufacturing records.
  • Safely perform assigned duties in a chemical processing and manufacturing environment while properly using required PPE, safety equipment, and safeguards.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and hazard-free work area and participate in 6S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Monitor materials and supplies, maintain accurate inventory information, and communicate replenishment needs to the Supervisor.
  • Identify and report defective equipment, materials, or faulty operations to the Supervisor.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, quality, and workflow.
  • Develop and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with coworkers and other personnel.
  • Complete required training and maintain certifications for applicable chemical processes.
  • Participate in cross-training and other development opportunities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
