Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in utility vegetation management or related forestry field and/or experience within the utility tree care industry.
  • Valid Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Class 5 Driver’s license with less than 6 demerits.
  • Possess excellent leadership skills and be able to handle stressful situations along with the ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant OH & S rules and guidelines.
  • Customer service, communication, and time management skills.
  • Flexibility with traveling in and out of town, via plane and/or vehicle.
  • Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
  • Proficient in map navigation skills and orienteering.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for candidates who possess a valid Certified Utility Arborist certificate or ISA certification or could obtain certification.
  • CSTS, WHMIS, and TDG certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise line clearance crews and is responsible for the proper administration, communication, and enforcement of supervisory and economic work practices.
  • Works in collaboration with Human Resources regarding employment for crew members including, but not limited to, hiring, discipline, separation of employment, leaves of absence, as well as policy compliance regarding employment for crew members.
  • Evaluates crew members’ performance to determine promotions/performance.
  • Ensure crew members have consistent performance reviews for opportunities to advance.
  • Maintain and accuracy of all records and reports related to the performance of the crew’s operation.
  • Receive and interpret tree trimming, removal, and chemical application orders initiated by supervisor or the Utility, involving an understanding of drawings and symbols representing types of line, voltages, and line equipment.
  • Assign work to individual crew members and supervise crew in carrying out work according to good tree clearance practices.
  • Must be capable of adjusting to field requirements.
  • Remain in contact with customers, property owners, general public, other contractors, and representatives of utilities and governmental agencies.
  • Must be professional and courteous when communicating on behalf of Wright Tree Service of Canada, Ltd.
  • Keep informed of new equipment specifications, standard practices and operating procedures.
  • Comply with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Benefits

  • Annual salary of $90,000 to $100,000 in addition to bonus potential.
