About The Position

The General Foreperson provides hands-on leadership and is responsible for scheduling, planning, coordinating, and supervising tree crews. This position is also responsible for assisting in cost control, ensuring workplace safety, and consistent and fair application of all company employment policies. The General Foreperson is a first-line manager and key customer interface.

Requirements

  • Three (3) or more years of directly related experience
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in a Group Lead/Supervisory role
  • Knowledge of established industry hazards, standards, practices, procedures, and techniques
  • Qualified to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Certification
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record per Company policy
  • Knowledge of essential job functions and responsibilities

  • Ability to problem solve
  • Meet all physical requirements of the position
  • Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations
  • 18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Herbicide Applicator's License in one or more states
  • Conversational knowledge of the Spanish language

Responsibilities

  • Understand equipment operations, work processes, and safety procedures for employee training.
  • Identify needs for employee training and ensure training is completed and up to date.
  • Maintain adherence to company safety policies, standards, and good practices.
  • Ensure completion of safety and hazard assessments and establish work zones and traffic control.
  • Conduct safety and other informational or educational meetings.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Ensure timely responses, actions, and corrections to safety issues.
  • Read and understand charts, orders, schedules, contracts, drawings, and other records.
  • Plan and establish work schedules (including required overtime), assignments, and sequences.
  • Arrange for notification and permission to complete work.
  • Recommend additions and releasing of personnel as required to maintain the schedule.
  • Inventory and obtain supplies, materials, and equipment in compliance with company policies.
  • Inspect vehicles, machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Communicate repairs to the supervisor and corporate office and ensure repairs are completed.
  • Oversee execution of work by employees and ensure work meets specifications.
  • Communicate with serviced customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate and attend to customer errors, complaints, and concerns to provide resolution.
  • Interview and hire employees in compliance with company guidelines and procedures.
  • Supervise the activities of assigned employees, assess competency and capability.
  • Take appropriate action and disciplinary measures to deal with performance concerns.
  • Maintain positive employee relations with and between employees.
  • Stimulate maximum efficiency and productivity of employees.
  • Keep records of employment matters and report to the supervisor on issues, progress, and delays.
  • Transmit all information and documentation to employees promptly.
  • Submit all documentation to the supervisor and corporate office in an accurate and timely manner.
