About The Position

The General Foreman will be responsible for planning and organizing construction activities, including the specific work activities of subcontractors. This role involves creating look-ahead schedules, prioritizing construction tasks for efficiency, and participating in health, safety, quality, and environmental processes. The General Foreman will supervise and direct work related to concrete and structural steel construction, ensure equipment maintenance, and manage the storage and security of tools and manuals. They will also identify necessary equipment, materials, and resources, provide input on cost-saving methods, and monitor cost control, job costing, quantity reporting, forecasting, and productivity. Additionally, the General Foreman will supervise and train field personnel, lead the Behavior Based Safety program, and maintain excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports and documentation.

Requirements

  • Total of 10+ years craft and/or supervisory experience in highway and bridge construction
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Foreman, leading crews in concrete construction, structural steel and/or related activities.
  • Confident public speaking and presenting skills
  • Excellent written communication
  • First Aid, CPR, and OSHA training, as well as safe use of Hand & Power tools.
  • Must be able to work long hours in varying temperature extremes.
  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to project locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes construction activities and organizes specific work activities of subcontractors.
  • Completes two week look-ahead schedules
  • Prioritizes and sequences construction activities to maximize efficiency and identify problem areas.
  • Participates in health, safety, quality and environmental processes.
  • Supervises and directs work activities related to concrete construction, structural steel construction and other heavy civil construction.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of equipment.
  • Manages the storage, security, and maintenance of specific tools and manuals.
  • Identifies equipment, materials, and resources required to perform activities.
  • Provides input into cost saving methods and practices.
  • Monitors cost control and job costing, quantity reporting, forecasting and productivity.
  • Supervises and trains field personnel
  • Leads PCL’s Behavior Based Safety program by modeling best practices, running safety meetings, educating teams about hazards, and applying accident recording and reporting procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication inclusive of reports, letters, and other documentation.
