About The Position

Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults and eggs to growers and companies across the world, with operations in eight US States. This position reports to and is supervised by the Grow Farm Manager. The General Farm Laborer is responsible for assisting the farm manager in the daily chores associated with the operations of the farm. This will include sanitizing, disinfecting, and maintaining company farm buildings and equipment, as well as maintaining the health and wellbeing of the turkeys on a Grow Farm.

Requirements

Ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50lbs. or more
Ability to work with live animals
Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities
Ability to perform duties while moving and using hands, occasionally lifting while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals, and fumes
Ability to work an extended workday if needed
Ability to sanitize and disinfect turkey production facilities and equipment
Ability to use various tools and protocols to disinfect equipment and facilities
Ability to perform minor repairs on equipment
Ability to ensure proper feeding and watering needs are met
Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment
Ability to follow all company regulations pertaining to biosecurity, animal welfare and safety
Ability to conduct daily walk-throughs to check bait traps and dispose of any dead vermin
Ability to check for dead birds consistently throughout the day and follow protocols for removal or quarantine
Must follow all of the company’s rules and regulations for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety
Must work productively in a team environment and be willing to help in any area to get the job done
Must work with a variety of tools and equipment

Other duties as assigned by the Farm Manager
