As a General Facilities Maintenance Technician at Walmart's local retail store, your role will involve executing routine maintenance tasks to uphold the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of Walmart Stores, equipment, or fixtures. Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Can lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
  • Can move up and down ladders frequently
  • Comfortable working at heights frequently
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Able to work in various temperatures
  • Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report
  • Vocational or Technical certification and 1 year experience, or 2 years total work experience, in one of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trade
  • Vocational or technical certification and 2 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • 4 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets by utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs
  • Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair Work Orders to support Stores and Store associates and document repair activities
  • Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls
  • Inspecting, operating, or testing facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues
  • Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely
  • Diagnosing and repairing commercial food equipment
  • Developing and adhering to maintenance schedules
  • Training Store Associates on equipment care and cleaning
  • Managing work orders and maintenance logs
  • Communicating clearly, transparently, and respectfully
  • Handling changing and competing demands
  • Collaborating effectively with team members
  • Performing preventative maintenance on food equipment such as combi ovens, deli slicers, auto meat cutters, fryers, hot cases, ice makers, pizza ovens, rotisserie ovens, thermoglazers, donut cases, four bowl warmers, bakery ovens, bread slicers, and tortilla makers
  • Performing preventative maintenance on grease and oil systems including oil/water separators and used cooking oil tanks
  • Utilizing plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills
  • Performing material handling equipment maintenance
  • Ensuring safety and proper functionality of all serviced equipment
  • Ensuring Store Associates are well-trained in equipment care and cleaning, reducing misuse and damage
  • Accurate and timely completion of work orders and maintenance logs
  • Providing high levels of customer service and operational efficiency in Walmart stores
  • Understanding and limiting the risk of cross contamination in food production areas
