About The Position
New Zealand needs to build a skilled workforce and ATNZ are seeking mechanically minded individuals who want to start a career in General Engineering. We are recruiting a General Engineering Apprentice for our host company located in Whakatu, Hawkes Bay. If successful you will be employed by ATNZ and assigned to this host company where you will receive valuable on-the-job training while studying to become a fully qualified engineer. General engineers have broad skills and knowledge of welding, fabrication, machining, and fitting. Their work includes: Fitting and assembly. Machine shop. Service and repair. Manufacturing. General fabrication of machines and equipment, including hydraulics and pneumatics. Our host company is a well-established, full-service engineering firm based in Hawke's Bay with over 70 years of industry experience and more than 2,000 projects completed across New Zealand. Operating from a purpose-built facility, they deliver end-to-end engineering solutions spanning structural steel fabrication, mechanical engineering, seismic strengthening, machining, sandblasting and painting, draughting and design, and more. With a reputation built on quality and innovation, this company has grown into a multi-company group, making them one of the most comprehensive engineering operations in the country. Their project portfolio includes high-profile work for major commercial, industrial, and civic clients from Hawke's Bay to Wellington, Hamilton and beyond.
Requirements
- Genuine interest in mechanical engineering
- Enjoy 'hands-on' work, varied interesting tasks and solving problems
- Committed to 3-4 years of study whilst working full time
- Interested in mechanical engineering
- Have a restricted or full drivers' licence
- Completed a pre trade course or have experience in the trades / mechanical engineering industry
- Great attitude and a good work ethic
- Want to be hands-on and earn something they are passionate about
