The General Engineer supports BGE electric transmission and distribution systems, with a focus on substation protection and control, battery maintenance, and compliance with NERC PRC‑005, COMAR, and Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) requirements. Responsibilities include auditing protection system testing and associated documentation, supporting NERC and PSC audits, performing fault coordination analysis, and reviewing commissioning and field-testing activities for substation, transmission, and distribution assets. This role leverages tools such as Power BI, Python, Pascal, JSON, SOAP, Visual Basic, and SQL to support data analysis, reporting, and automation initiatives. Strong technical expertise and the ability to work cross-functionally are essential to ensure system reliability and regulatory compliance. The General Engineer leads and supports engineering efforts across BGE/Exelon's utility infrastructure, including electric distribution, transmission, substations, and related systems. This role requires a broad understanding of utility operations and involves developing engineering solutions, managing technical deliverables, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards. Work can include: Leading electric, and/or communications system performance evaluations and outage analysis Driving initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency Managing budgeting and cost estimation for engineering projects Coordinating across departments and with external stakeholders Overseeing field inspections and resolving technical issues May be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies
