About The Position

Creek Technologies (CreekTech) is actively seeking highly motivated, part-time remote adjunct professors to teach General Education courses at the US Naval Community College (USNCC). Courses include English, Critical Thinking, Math, and Science. The role requires a Master's degree (or PhD preferred for Critical Thinking) with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the relevant field, and experience teaching online. Prior military experience is preferred.

Requirements

  • Academically Qualified (AQ) faculty shall have a minimum of a master's degree (doctorate degree preferred), in an appropriate field of study, with at least 18 hours of graduate-level credit in the relevant field(s).
  • Adjunct faculty for general education will be academically qualified (AQ).
  • To be considered academically qualified, faculty must have a graduate degree in a relevant general education discipline (English, journalism, communication, math, a science field).
  • Professionally Qualified (PQ) faculty will have at least 5 years post-secondary asynchronous general education instruction or postsecondary advising in a student support center, in addition to possessing a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a relevant degree field.
  • English: 18 graduate credit hours in English, composition, mass comm; Postsecondary English teaching / post-secondary writing center experience.
  • Critical Thinking: Master's Degree; Preferred earned PhD Degree in either philosophy, rhetoric, communication, psychology, or general humanities.
  • Math: MS degree in Math, Statistics or related field from and accredited institution with minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the subject.
  • Science: MS degree in an engineering or physical science field (physics, chemistry, geology, etc.) from an accredited institution with minimum 18 graduate credit hours in the subject field.
  • Online teaching experience: Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred. The large majority of Contractor provided faculty shall have taught at least one (1) semester-equivalent online higher education course at an accredited college/university, with experience teaching in the field of study strongly preferred.
  • Experience with online Learning Management Systems (LMS). Adjunct faculty shall have prior experience in Blackboard LMS or similar (LMS).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military service
  • Prior post-secondary teaching experience in a general education course, or similar post-secondary academic support center experience is highly desirable.
  • Military experience: Prior experience as a Service member or as a civilian employee of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) is preferred, specifically in a military education institution.
  • Introductory courses in English, academic or technical writing, and written communication.
  • Introductory courses in logic, critical thinking, psychology, philosophy, and rhetoric.
  • Introductory college math courses such as finite math, intro to statistics, algebra, pre-calc, etc., in an asynchronous online format.
  • Introductory college-level natural science courses, such as: physics, chemistry, geology, oceanology, etc., in an online format.

Responsibilities

  • Must possess a computer, fast and reliable internet access, and corporate e-mail to facilitate communication with students, faculty, and the BB LMS.
  • Shall be available to teach courses across multiple terms.
  • Shall provide robust, timely and specific written feedback using USNCC rubrics and provide appropriate written feedback (and digital formats such as video/audio, as supported in the LMS) on drafts and papers.
  • Shall provide information on missing, incomplete, or disputed grades. The reporting format shall comply as defined in the USNCC Faculty Handbook.
  • Will finalize all incomplete grades and submit final grades when students provide the required work.
  • Provide the end-of-course memorandum that summarizes students' performance in the course and lessons learned.
  • Certify that their classes are conducted in compliance with published USNCC policies.
