General Custodian - 6 hrs/day
About The Position
The General Custodian provides students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place to learn, play, and develop. The role is located at Sylvan Hills Jr. High, 10001 Johnson Street, Sherwood, AR 72120, and is scheduled for 6 hours per day over 182 contract days. The position is classified, non-exempt, and benefits eligible. The salary is $15.00–$21.06 per hour, depending on relevant experience. The custodian performs cleaning and routine grounds-care duties, moves school and office furniture as needed, and performs other assigned duties. This work involves physical labor, including some heavy lifting and working at varying heights on a ladder. The position reports to the Building Principal/Area Supervisor. Performance is evaluated under the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
Requirements
- Experience in custodial work or willingness to learn.
- Ability to do physical labor.
Responsibilities
- Scrub, mop, wax, and polish floors as needed.
- Vacuum and clean carpet.
- Dust and polish furniture; wash windows, woodwork, venetian blinds, and bathrooms.
- Remove trash from assigned areas.
- Clean up grounds and perform routine grounds-care tasks.
- Move office and school furniture as needed.
- Perform work at varying heights on a ladder.
- Perform some heavy lifting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
