About The Position

The General Counsel, Americas is the senior legal leader for RX's Americas business and serves as a strategic legal and business advisor to the Americas leadership team. The role is responsible for leading the legal function across the United States, Brazil, and Mexico, supporting RX's portfolio of events and related commercial activities. The General Counsel, Americas partners closely with senior business leaders to enable growth, support complex commercial decision-making and manage legal, regulatory and operational risk. The role requires a practical, commercially minded lawyer who can provide clear judgment in a fast-moving environment, build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and lead a high-performing regional legal team within a matrixed global organization.

Requirements

  • Possess JD with 10+ years of legal experience gained through a combination of leading law firm and in-house roles.
  • Significant experience advising senior executives and business leadership teams in a multinational or matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and mentor legal professionals and manage legal work across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience in commercial contracting, litigation management, employment matters, regulatory compliance, governance and enterprise risk management.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing, operationally complex or event-based businesses is preferred.
  • Sound understanding of how to balance legal risk, commercial objectives, customer experience and reputational considerations.
  • Strong commercial judgment and practical problem-solving orientation.
  • Clear, concise communicator who can explain complex legal issues in business terms.
  • Confident advisor with credibility at senior leadership level and the judgment to escalate appropriately.
  • Collaborative and inclusive leader who builds trust across functions, geographies and levels.
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating with ambiguity and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal legal advisor to the Americas leadership on strategic, operational and commercial matters.
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice that enables business objectives while appropriately managing legal and regulatory risk.
  • Contribute as an active member of the Americas senior leadership team, bringing legal judgment, risk awareness and enterprise perspective to business planning and decision-making.
  • Partner with business leaders on growth initiatives, customer and partner relationships, new business, market expansion and other strategic priorities.
  • Lead, develop and mentor the legal professionals supporting the Americas region.
  • Set regional legal priorities and allocate internal and external resources effectively against business needs.
  • Build a collaborative, accountable and commercially minded legal culture focused on practical solutions, sound judgment and continuous improvement.
  • Manage outside counsel and legal service providers, including matter strategy, performance, budgeting and efficient use of external resources.
  • Advise on significant commercial agreements, strategic partnerships, venue and supplier arrangements, association relationships, sponsorship agreements and other material business transactions.
  • Support business operations across the Americas, including major events, customer-facing initiatives and operational escalations.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory issues affecting the Americas business, including marketing, consumer protection, commercial practices, data use, intellectual property and compliance matters, in partnership with specialist functions where appropriate.
  • Maintain and improve regional legal templates, contracting approaches, approval processes and practical guidance to support consistent and efficient execution.
  • Oversee litigation, claims, disputes, regulatory inquiries and pre-litigation risk across the Americas region.
  • Direct external counsel and coordinate matter strategy on significant disputes, investigations and claims.
  • Identify emerging legal and business risks, advise senior leaders on mitigation options and support effective resolution of high-risk or reputation-sensitive matters.
