About The Position

General Manager / General Contractor (GM/GC) for Monty’s Handyman Services in New London, Connecticut. Monty’s Handyman Services is a fast-growing, premium home care and renovation brand focused on quality craftsmanship, proactive customer care, and white-glove hospitality. Services range from small home repairs and subscription-based maintenance to high-end remodels. This dual role requires an operational leader and legal qualifier to oversee daily operations, manage project schedules, conduct on-site estimations, and manage both internal craftsmen and subcontractors. The ideal candidate is a licensed GC with strong business acumen, superior customer service standards, and a passion for building high-performing teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in project management, estimating, and leadership within residential construction, remodeling, or trades.
  • Strong understanding of gross margins, job costing, and operational profitability.
  • Absolute commitment to timeliness, clear proactive communication, and zero no-shows.
  • Comfortable adopting mobile tech and software for scheduling, quotes, and CRM management.
  • Must possess a clean driving record and successfully pass a comprehensive background check.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary General Contractor.
  • Ensure all job sites, field operations, and subcontractor projects strictly comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and state requirements.
  • Oversee day-to-day field execution across home repairs, membership care visits, and major remodeling projects.
  • Scope, estimate, and present clear, itemized quotes to prospective clients on-site.
  • Manage project timelines, calendar schedules, material procurement, and labor allocation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Oversee and quality-check the work of W-2 craftsmen and specialized subcontractors.
  • Manage gross margins, job profitability, labor ratios, and project costs.
  • Utilize tech tools and software for estimation, scheduling, dispatching, and customer communications.
  • Maintain high organizational standards across project calendars, material orders, and client updates.
  • Deliver a 5-star, white-glove client experience driven by courtesy, active listening, and clear communication.
  • Walk job sites with homeowners, address unexpected discoveries promptly, and perform final quality walkthroughs.
  • Represent the core Monty’s values: show up on time, communicate clearly, and leave the home cleaner than you found it.
