About The Position

The primary objective of this job is to improve quality, treat and support patients and family members in a caring professional manner and fulfill the hospital’s mission to serve our patients and their families by performing clerical duties i.e., scheduling appointments, scheduling transportation for patients, translating for Russian speaking patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Six months to one-year work experience in a clinical position
  • Normal Office Environment where there is little or no discomfort due to temperature dust, noise and the like.
  • Ability to retrieve files weighing less than five pounds each.
  • Must key on computer terminal frequently.
  • Able to reach five foot files.
  • Ability to handle high volumes of telephone work.
  • Ability to learn and utilize personal computer software programs as needed in order to perform a variety of functions (i.e. Ibax.)
  • Able to respond to callers and emergencies using tact and diplomacy.
  • Telephone, Fax, computer, photocopier.
  • Light typing
  • Ability to organize and follow directions
  • Russian speaking required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments/transportation for patients via PHS.
  • Confirm patient appointments and transportation.
  • Answer phones and takes messages for physicians and other geriatric staff members.
  • Review and verify patient transportation Medicaid pilot forms from ambulette companies (i.e. ACT, RCA.)
  • File, photocopy and fax materials frequently.
  • Perform other related duties as required by director/manager.
  • Light Typing
  • Attend monthly PHS registration meetings – keeping up-to-date on procedure changes
  • Assist the Home Visit Program with clerical duties i.e. inputting demographic statistics onto a spreadsheet.
  • Update geriatric patient activity spreadsheet on a daily basis.
  • Provide clerical and phone coverage in emergent situations (i.e. sick, vacation etc.)
