About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at waist, knees, neck throughout the shift.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl while cleaning lower areas or retrieving supplies.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment, using tools, and cleaning surfaces.
Ability to perform overhead reaching throughout the shift.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

High dusting of surfaces above shoulder height using a treated high duster.
Sanitizing and spot cleaning surfaces below shoulder height with a germicidal solution.
Cleaning bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and dispensers, using germicidal solutions.
Emptying trash cans, replacing liners, and cleaning cans if necessary.
Dusting or vacuuming floors using a treated dust mophead or vacuum cleaner, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Performing grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and policing the parking lot.
Cleaning public common areas, including dusting main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and high dusting window areas.
Cleaning the food court area, including tables, chairs, trash cans, and tray washing.
Sanitizing floors using the proper germicidal solution, ensuring all areas under furniture and behind doors are mopped.
Mentally reviewing cleaning steps and visually checking furniture placement after completing a room.
Performing daily hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting and high dusting.
Interacting with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions, and reporting any issues to the supervisor.
Maintaining a clean and neat personal appearance.
Reporting to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Performing other duties as assigned, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrubbing and buffing of floors).
