About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment. This role involves detailed cleaning of various areas including restrooms, common areas, food courts, and grounds, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms, exerting 5-35 lbs of force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at waist, knees, neck.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment and cleaning surfaces.
Ability to perform overhead reaching.
Adequate sight for cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces using a germicidal solution, removing fingerprints and smudges.
Clean restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers, ensuring they are sanitary and stocked.
Empty trash cans, replace liners, and clean cans if necessary.
Dust or vacuum floors using appropriate methods, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and policing the parking lot.
Clean public common areas, including dusting and mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, planters, and checking for cobwebs.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, spot clean spills, and clean trash cans.
Process dirty trays in the food court using a tray power washer and stack clean trays.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, ensuring all areas are covered.
Visually inspect and mentally review cleaning steps after completing a room, making corrections as needed.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting.
Interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions or referring them to appropriate personnel.
Report any broken or out-of-order items to the supervisor.
Work quietly and maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to supervisor if work assignment is not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction, bonneting), auto scrubbing, and buffing floors.
