About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, overhead reaching, and good sight with depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height (e.g., lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges) in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height (e.g., ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trash cans) in a counter-clockwise direction. Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls. Spot clean windows.
Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, and surrounding areas. Clean and check soap and paper dispensers, refilling as needed.
Empty Trash Cans: Empty, clean, and reline trash cans, ensuring liquid is handled appropriately.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, starting from the back of the room and working towards the door, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Grounds care: Clean and check outside areas, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing the parking lot for trash.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, and perform high dusting of window areas at least twice a week, checking corners and edges for debris.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables. Spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove and clean dirty trays, and police outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing: Using the proper germicidal solution, sanitize floors starting from the back of the room, mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement after completing a room, making corrections as needed.
Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting and high dusting are done daily.
Customer Relations and Service: Interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answer questions or refer them to the appropriate person, report any issues to the supervisor, work quietly, stay in the assigned work area, maintain a clean personal appearance, and report to the supervisor if work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting, auto scrubbing and buffing).
