About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role involves performing various tasks related to the area of assignment, including high dusting, sanitizing surfaces, bathroom cleaning, trash removal, floor care, and grounds maintenance. The position also requires good customer relations and service skills, and the ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms, exerting 5-35 lbs of force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at waist, knees, and neck throughout the shift.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl while cleaning lower areas or retrieving supplies.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment and cleaning surfaces.
Ability to perform overhead reaching throughout the shift.
Sufficient sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination for cleaning tasks and operating equipment.
Must be able to work weekends, specifically Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, starting in a counter-clockwise direction and cleaning surfaces above shoulder height.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height using a germicidal solution, removing fingerprints and smudges from surfaces like ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, including wiping down sinks, toilet seats, the outside of toilet bowls, and cleaning the inside of toilet bowls with a Johnnie Mop.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners as needed, and cleaning cans if they contain liquid.
Dust mop or vacuum floors using the appropriate technique, ensuring all areas under furniture and in restrooms are cleaned.
Perform grounds care duties, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and policing the parking lot.
Clean and maintain public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and performing high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, placing chairs back under tables, spot cleaning for spills, and removing dirty trays to the washroom for cleaning.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and working towards the exit.
Visually inspect rooms after cleaning to ensure furniture placement is correct and make corrections as needed.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, along with high dusting.
Interact with customers in a friendly and cheerful manner, answering questions courteously or referring them to someone who can assist.
Report any broken or out-of-order items to the supervisor.
Work quietly and maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Account Manager, which may include floor care tasks like stripping and waxing, carpet extraction, and auto scrubbing/buffing floors.
