About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, overhead reaching, and having adequate sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height such as lights, curtain tips, vents, and ledges.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height, remove fingerprints and smudges from surfaces, and spot clean windows.
Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, and check/refill soap and paper dispensers.
Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if necessary, and replace liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms.
Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing the parking lot.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, check for cobwebs and perform high dusting of window areas, and check corners and edges for debris.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove dirty trays to the washroom and clean them, and police outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, including under furniture and behind doors.
Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement, making corrections as needed.
Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
Customer Relations and Service: Knock lightly before entering occupied rooms, be friendly and cheerful, answer questions courteously or refer to someone who can, report broken items to the supervisor, work quietly, stay in the assigned work area, maintain a clean and neat personal appearance, and report to the supervisor if work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which could include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrubbing and buffing of floors).
