About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition. This role also involves performing other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate for the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment.
Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs. of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms, exerting 5-35 lbs force, while performing cleaning duties.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas and drapes.
Ability to bend/twist/balance at the waist, knees, and neck throughout the shift.
Ability to kneel/crouch/crawl while cleaning lower areas and retrieving supplies from lower shelves.
Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces, and using cleaning equipment.
Ability to perform overhead reaching throughout the shift.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination in the operation of equipment and tool use.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, starting in a counter-clockwise direction around the room, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height such as lights above doors, curtain tips, and vents.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces using a germicidal solution, working counter-clockwise around the room. This includes ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans.
Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls using the proper solution.
Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, wiping down in the following order: above and below the sink, toilet seat, and the outside of the toilet bowl. Clean the inside of the toilet with a Johnnie Mop and proper germicidal solution, paying attention to the rim.
Check and refill soap dispensers and paper dispensers daily.
Empty trash cans, replacing liners and wiping down cans if liquid is present.
Dust or vacuum floors using a treated dust mophead with an 'S' stroke, ensuring all areas under furniture and in restrooms are cleaned. Clean the mophead with a counter brush and dispose of dust.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash and cigarette butts, spot cleaning spills on sidewalks, removing gum with a scraper, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass as necessary, and policing the parking lot for trash.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, placing chairs back under tables.
Spot clean spills in the food court and empty and clean trash cans.
Remove accumulated dirty trays to the washroom, clean them using a tray power washer, and stack clean trays for recycled use.
Police outside eating areas in the food court.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, as well as high dusting.
Interact with customers in a friendly and cheerful manner, answering questions courteously or referring them to someone who can assist.
Report anything broken or out of order to the supervisor.
Work quietly and speak quietly, trying to reduce or eliminate noise.
Stay within the assigned work area unless requested to go elsewhere by the supervisor.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance while on the job.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrubbing and buffing of floors).
