About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work operations.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Adequate sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, including depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, starting in a counter-clockwise direction around the room, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height (e.g., lights above doors, curtain tips, vents, ledges).
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height (e.g., ledges, chairs, telephone, countertops, trash cans) using a germicidal solution.
Remove fingerprints and smudges from doorknobs and walls using the proper solution.
Spot clean windows using the proper solution.
Clean bathrooms using a germicidal solution, wiping down in the following order: above and below the sink, toilet seat, and the outside of the toilet bowl. Clean the inside of the toilet with a Johnnie Mop and germicidal solution, paying attention to the rim.
Clean and check soap dispensers and paper dispensers daily, refilling as needed.
Empty trash cans, removing and replacing liners if liquid is present, and wiping down the can.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, starting at the back of the room and working towards the door, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned. Clean mop heads with a counter brush and dispose of dust.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks, flower beds, and curb lines for trash and cigarette butts, spot cleaning spills on sidewalks, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, and policing the parking lot for trash.
Clean public common areas, including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and checking for cobwebs and foreign debris in window areas.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, placing chairs back under tables, spot cleaning spills, emptying and cleaning trash cans, removing dirty trays to the washroom for cleaning, and policing outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting at the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, as well as high dusting.
Interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions or referring them to someone who can assist.
Report anything broken or out of order to the supervisor.
Work quietly and stay within the assigned work area unless requested otherwise by a supervisor.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor or Account Manager, which may include floor care (stripping and waxing, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrubbing and buffing of floors).
