Requirements

Basic knowledge of janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic knowledge of safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
Operating powered and non-powered equipment.
Lifting/carrying 1 – 30 lbs. equipment, supplies, trash.
Push/pull, using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force.
Climbing stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas, drapes.
Bending/twisting/balancing at waist, knees, neck throughout shift.
Kneeling/crouching/crawling while cleaning lower areas, retrieving supplies from lower shelves.
Reaching, handling, grasping and fingering while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces and using cleaning equipment.
Overhead reaching required throughout shift.
Sight – in performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards. Requires depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in clean, sanitary and orderly condition.
High Dusting using a treated high duster.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning using a germicidal solution.
Bathroom Cleaning using germicidal solution.
Empty Trash Cans.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming.
Grounds care including cleaning outside areas, sidewalks, flower beds, curb line, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing parking lots.
Cleaning public common areas including dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, cleaning planters, and high dusting window areas.
Food Court cleaning including cleaning, removing trash, sanitizing tables, spot cleaning spills, emptying and cleaning trash cans, removing dirty trays to wash room and cleaning them, and policing outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing using the proper germicidal solution.
Performing inspections after completing rooms, mentally reviewing cleaning steps and visually checking furniture placement.
Daily cleaning of Hall – lobby – stairs – water fountains – furniture – wall spotting and high dusting.
Customer Relations and Service including knocking lightly on doors, being friendly and cheerful, answering questions courteously, reporting broken items, working quietly, staying in assigned work area, maintaining a clean and neat personal appearance, reporting incomplete work, and being courteous.
Performing other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which could include floor care – stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, auto scrubbing and buffing of floors.
