About The Position

Blue Chip Pros is seeking a General Cleaner to perform cleaning activities at Academy Sport in Madison. The role keeps assigned facilities clean, sanitary, and orderly and includes other tasks related to the assigned area. Duties may also include floor care such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing, as directed by a supervisor or Account Manager. The cleaner follows established procedures for high dusting, sanitizing and spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning, trash removal, floor dusting, vacuuming and sanitizing. The work also covers grounds care, public common areas, and food-court cleaning. Employees are expected to inspect completed rooms, maintain courteous customer interactions, report problems to a supervisor, and work quietly and professionally.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic janitorial work, methods, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of using toxic and non-toxic chemicals in accordance with MSDS sheets.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and communicate sufficiently with coworkers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain the physical condition needed to perform assigned duties.
Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry equipment, supplies, and trash weighing 1–30 lbs.
Ability to push and pull using both hands and arms while exerting 5–35 lbs. of force.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend, twist, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach overhead, and handle or grasp equipment and tools throughout the shift.
Sight, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination sufficient to perform cleaning tasks, operate equipment, and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

High-dust surfaces above shoulder height, including lights, vents, and ledges.
Sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and spot-clean fingerprints, smudges, and windows using appropriate solutions.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers; refill soap and paper supplies as needed.
Empty trash cans, clean them when necessary, and replace liners.
Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms.
Clean exterior areas by emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking areas, removing gum, spot-cleaning spills, and cleaning benches, vending machines, window ledges, and public-area glass as needed.
Dust mop and spot mop public hallways; clean glass and planters, and check for cobwebs and debris, including high-dusting window areas at least twice per week.
Clean food-court tables, sanitize surfaces, return chairs to their places, spot-clean spills, empty trash, and clean and stack trays using a tray power washer.
Sanitize floors, working from the back of the room toward the exit and cleaning under furniture and behind doors.
Inspect completed rooms, verify furniture placement, and correct any issues.
Clean halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, and furniture; perform wall spotting and high dusting daily.
Knock before entering an occupied room, assist customers courteously or refer them to someone who can help, and report broken or out-of-order items to a supervisor.
Work quietly, remain in the assigned area unless directed otherwise, maintain a neat personal appearance, and report unfinished assignments at the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, potentially including floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and floor auto-scrubbing and buffing.
