About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Ability to see for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards, requiring depth perception and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints and smudges from surfaces. Spot clean windows.
Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, and check/refill soap and paper dispensers.
Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if necessary, and replace with clean liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors, including under furniture and in restrooms, using appropriate techniques.
Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and flower beds, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, wiping lower window ledges, high dusting for dust and cobwebs, cleaning public area glass, and policing parking lots.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, check for cobwebs and perform high dusting of window areas at least twice a week, and check corners and edges for debris.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove dirty trays to the washroom for cleaning, and police outside eating areas.
Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room and mopping under furniture and behind doors.
Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement after completing a room, making corrections as needed.
Daily Tasks: Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting, as well as high dusting.
Customer Relations and Service: Be friendly and courteous to customers, answer questions or refer them to someone who can, report broken items to the supervisor, work quietly, stay in the assigned work area, maintain a clean and neat personal appearance, and report to the supervisor if work is not completed by the end of the shift.
Other duties: Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care tasks such as stripping and waxing floors, extraction and bonneting of carpets, and auto scrubbing and buffing of floors.
