About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment. This role involves detailed cleaning of various areas including high dusting, sanitizing surfaces, bathroom cleaning, trash removal, floor care, and grounds maintenance. The position also requires customer interaction and adherence to safety protocols.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.

Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate for assigned duties, including walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.

Ability to lift/carry 1-30 lbs of equipment, supplies, or trash.
Ability to push/pull using both hands and arms, exerting 5-35 lbs of force.

Ability to reach, handle, grasp, and finger while operating equipment and cleaning surfaces.

Responsibilities

Perform high dusting using a treated high duster, cleaning surfaces above shoulder height.
Sanitize and spot clean surfaces below shoulder height, including ledges, chairs, telephones, countertops, and trash cans.
Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and dispensers, using germicidal solutions.
Empty trash cans, replace liners, and clean cans if necessary.
Dust mop or vacuum floors using the "S" stroke method, ensuring all areas under furniture are cleaned.
Perform grounds care, including emptying and cleaning ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking lots for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and cleaning public area glass.
Maintain public common areas by dust mopping and spot mopping main hallways, cleaning glass, planters, and performing high dusting of window areas.
Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables in the food court, and police outside eating areas.
Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room outwards.
Visually inspect and ensure furniture placement is correct after cleaning.
Perform daily cleaning of halls, lobbies, stairs, water fountains, furniture, and wall spotting.
Interact with customers in a friendly and courteous manner, answering questions or referring them to the appropriate person.
Report any broken or out-of-order items to the supervisor.
Work quietly and minimize noise levels.
Remain in the assigned work area unless directed otherwise by a supervisor.
Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance.
Report to the supervisor if work assignments are not completed by the end of the shift.
Perform other duties as assigned, which may include floor care such as stripping and waxing, carpet extraction and bonneting, and auto scrubbing and buffing floors.
