About The Position

The General Service Technician (GST) is an entry-level role crucial to the daily operations of an automotive dealership, particularly those specializing in mobility solutions. Individuals in this position contribute to the smooth flow of dealership activities by executing foundational automotive maintenance, managing lot vehicles, and supporting both customers and the dealership team. This role is especially suited for those embarking on a career within the automotive and mobility services industry, providing an excellent platform for professional development and skill building.

Requirements

  • One to Two years of general automotive repair / maintenance experience.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, and regularly bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
  • A keen eye for detail and a positive, flexible attitude.
  • Willingness to pursue formal automotive and manufacturer-specific training.
  • Ability to maintain a minimum average of 6 billed hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • Checking in vehicles upon their delivery to the dealership.
  • Reconditioning trade-in vehicles and vehicles prepared for customer delivery.
  • Performing fundamental automotive maintenance tasks, including tire rotations and replacements, fluid checks and changes, brake inspections and servicing, suspension component service, and general automotive maintenance such as diagnosis and replacement of common parts like alternators, belts, hoses, wipers, batteries, and filters.
  • Performing and documenting vehicle inspections following stated company procedure.
  • Assisting with basic repairs and installation tasks on Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) and mobility lifts.
  • Checking in rental vehicles upon return and occasionally delivering rentals.
  • Picking up customers or their mobility equipment.
  • Reconditioning vehicles traded in by customers.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the shop workspace.
  • Following established safety protocols and complying with all company policies.
  • Taking on other responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager or Service Manager.
