Arbor is a nonprofit research organization dedicated to solving a critical challenge in clinical neuroscience: reliably changing brain circuits through design. The organization aims to address the lack of effective treatments for millions suffering from conditions like depression and chronic pain. Arbor is developing a novel experimental approach involving intervention, measurement of circuit response, symptom tracking, and repeated trials within individuals over extended periods. They are building an experimental platform that includes the Forest 1 ultrasound system, capable of high-resolution imaging of brain activity, and will soon incorporate stimulation capabilities. Electrode-based interfaces are also being integrated into animal studies. The ultimate goal is to use the collected data to build models that will make neuromodulation predictable. Arbor operates as a Focused Research Organization under the Convergent Research umbrella, formerly known as Forest Neurotech. It is a mission-driven nonprofit undertaking multidisciplinary translational research that falls outside traditional academic or corporate structures. The organization has secured funding for its initial phase and is currently a small team, offering a unique opportunity for early hires to significantly influence Arbor's future.
