About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, conducting, and ensuring the implementation of Activity Therapy programs and services within the Treatment Mall. These programs include leisure awareness, community resources, arts & crafts, dance, movies, bingo, games, tournaments, and picnics. The role ensures programming is therapeutic and goal-oriented, assesses when activities need to change based on attendance and patient feedback, and completes activity therapy assessments. The therapist works with the unit Treatment Team to formulate individualized goals related to activity therapy and communicates patient progress. They also meet with patients to assist with satisfaction surveys, maintain required records and clinical documentation for compliance, and transport/escort clients on Level IV passes for treatment interventions. Additionally, the role involves recommending and requisitioning supplies and equipment, inspecting the work area for safety and sanitation, tracking equipment maintenance, keeping group attendance records, and adhering to HBH and state policies and safety practices.

Requirements

• 30 mos. exp. with coaching, personal training, &/or fitness instruction or 30 mos. exp. providing work direction to incarcerated persons & training &/or development.
• OR The completion of associate degree in recreation; 12 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation.
• OR The completion of undergraduate core program in recreation; 6 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation.
• OR 6 mos. exp. as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211.
• OR The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
• Official transcripts are required for all post-secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application.

Responsibilities

• Inspects program work area for safe & sanitary conditions; may be responsible for tracking maintenance of equipment.
• Keeps group attendance and enters into data base.
• Follows HBH &/or state policies, procedures & safety practices
