About The Position

Responsible for the administration and supervision of the Branch’s maintenance activities, including coordinating and directing the maintenance work program and activities to support the Authority and Departmental goal, objectives, and performance goal, and KPI (Key Performance Indicators). Develops key performance indicators to evaluate and improve the maintenance process of the branch and ensures the staff is aware of maintenance management business process. Enforces rules, regulations and special instructions to ensure the needed tools and resources are available. Assist in the staffing and resources. May serve as a replacement for the Manager when required. This position requires 24-hour “on-call” availability to respond during emergencies, special events, weather-related problems, or major incident, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in Maintaining Electrical Power distribution systems for Traction and Auxiliary Electrical for Transit Systems or related Amenities.
  • Extensive Knowledge of electrical fail-safe systems involved in the maintenance of 20kv knife switches, transformers, switchboards, motor control centers, uninterrupted power supplies lighting protection, low voltage controls relay logic, energy management, programmable logic controllers, and redundant power supplies utilized in traction Power and Auxiliary power systems.
  • Two years of practical formal training in electromechanical and electrical repair/troubleshooting, electrical equipment refurbishing, and maintenance management software knowledge preferred.
  • Must possess oral and written communication Skills.
  • In lieu of a degree, Completion of a 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship Program, or an Associate of Science Degree in Engineering Technology or a two-year Electrical Technician Certificate/Diploma in a formalized electrical/electronic technician program and six years of experience in coordination and performance of transit and auxiliary power system maintenance, four years of which must have been at the supervisory level, may substitute.
  • Must have a Commercial Driver's License or minimally possess a CDL permit (successfully have passed the written portion of the CDL exam).
  • Employees will be required to obtain their CDL license within 90 days following employment.

Nice To Haves

  • An unrestricted Class 2 Electrical License is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the activities of the Electrical Power & Equipment Foremen.
  • Develops annual performance plans based on unit/division goals and objectives.
  • Conducts weekly meetings with Foremen and assists in planning and prioritizing upcoming work.
  • Interviews, hires, coaches, develops and evaluates staff.
  • Oversees proper execution of the Authority's collective bargaining agreement.
  • Assists in the development of the branch budget.
  • Carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business.
  • Performs work that affects business operations to a substantial degree.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
