About The Position

The Gel Coat Repair and Detail position is responsible for the touch-up and repair of imperfections, scratches, and cracks in the surface gel coat of boats before they reach the assembly department. This role involves assessing flaws, preparing areas for repair, applying gel coat, and ensuring the quality of the finished product through sanding, buffing, and polishing.

Responsibilities

Performs touch up or repairs defects in surface gel coat, determined by Auditor.
Combines appropriate amounts of gel coat and catalyst for patching.
Prepares flawed areas for patching using Dremel tools and sanding equipment.
Applies catalyzed gel coat to the repair using a spray gun or by blading a patch.
Sands, buffs, and polishes the repaired area after the patch or sprayed gel coat has cured.
Participates in the detail audit to ensure quality of the boat and/or repairs.
Maintains a safe, clean, and hazard-free work area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
