GED Prep Teacher
About The Position
EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to teach Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies content to adult learners to prepare them to take the GED subject area tests. EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support statewide initiatives. Mission EdAdvance exists to promote the success of school districts and their communities. EdAdvance is redefining what a Regional Education Service Center can be using a systemic approach — grounded in the " 3C's ": Connection, Culture, and Customization. Focused on local and regional priorities, we are reinvesting the expertise, energy, and resources of the agency to amplify the benefit of our constituents.
Requirements
- Maintains respectful and professional working relationships with all individuals.
- Sensitive to the needs of adult learners
- CT certification #107, #106, #015 English, or #029 Mathematics preferred
Nice To Haves
- Sensitive to the needs of adult learners aged 18+
- Knowledge of a wide variety of strategies and linguistic supports to support instruction
- Ability to use classroom technology such as a laptop, projector, and interactive board to enhance instruction
Responsibilities
- Create a positive learning environment that is supportive and safe for all learners
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and develop sound foundational skills in each subject area and transferable visual literacy skills
