About The Position

Fort Bend County is seeking a part-time GED Instructor to work with students in the juvenile probation department. The instructor will be responsible for teaching GED subjects, administering pre-tests, providing individual instruction and tutoring, and reporting student progress. The role also involves assisting with job skills and higher education introduction, preparing for GED graduations, and participating in emergency management activities as needed. Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
One-year practical experience in classroom teaching.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with education representatives in the community, program participants, various volunteers and other department employees.
Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
Minimum 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

Be fully knowledgeable in reading, math, science, and social studies.
Administer pre-tests at various probation department sites.
Work directly with students needing remedial work to prepare them for the GED Exam.
Provide individual instruction and tutoring as needed.
Provide weekly progress reports to probation staff.
Assist with job skills and introduction to higher education instruction.
Assist and prepare for annual GED graduation.
Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
