About The Position

The Gearbox Pump Mechanic Apprentice is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on training and experience in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of gearbox pumps and related systems. Under the guidance of experienced mechanics, the trainee will learn the skills necessary to become a proficient gearbox pump mechanic, including troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of pumps and gearboxes.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in learning about gearbox pumps and related systems.
Ability to follow instructions and work well under supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

A basic understanding of mechanical systems and components is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Participate in a structured training program to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in gearbox pump mechanics.
Learn and apply safe work practices, technical procedures, and industry standards under the supervision of experienced mechanics.
Assist in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of gearbox pumps and associated components.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor adjustments, to ensure optimal performance of pumps and gearboxes.
Learn to diagnose mechanical issues and malfunctions in gearbox pumps through observation and guided practice.
Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
Review and follow technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins to ensure correct procedures are followed.
Operate and maintain various hand and power tools, including wrenches, impact drivers, and diagnostic equipment.
Learn proper techniques for using specialized tools and machinery used in gearbox pump repair.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
Report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors and follow instructions for addressing them.
Work closely with experienced mechanics and other team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments as needed.
