About The Position

Wonderful College Prep Academy is seeking part-time tutors for the GEAR UP program at Sanger West High School. Tutors will work with student cohorts throughout their high school years, providing support during lunch periods and/or class times. This role aligns with the school calendars of Sanger Unified School District and Wonderful College Prep Academy. The position reports to the GEAR UP Manager in Sanger, CA, and is an in-person role. The GEAR UP Tutor (Math) position is a one-year contract from August 10, 2026, to June 4, 2027. The GEAR UP program is a federally funded Title III Grant designed to increase the number of low-income students prepared for and successful in postsecondary education. It serves an entire cohort of students from seventh grade through their first year of college.

Requirements

• College graduate or enrolled in college and have completed freshman English and college math (Algebra II).
• At least one year of tutoring experience.
• An eager, flexible learner and problem solver who feels comfortable taking initiative.
• A self-starter with an exceptional work ethic and the ability to work well away from colleagues and management.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• An ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate well with scholars.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring services to students 1:1 or in small groups in classrooms.
• Collaborate with and provide support for GEAR UP staff.
• Work directly with students to provide various academic support services (i.e., tutoring; assisting with completing forms; assisting with workshops).
• Assist in the planning, organizing, and implementing GEAR UP grant activities.
• Follow school and GEAR UP protocols and procedures.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
