About The Position

This role requires an experienced operator qualified to set up and operate a variety of gear shaping and grinding equipment using blueprints or process sheets. The operator will be responsible for performing final inspections using specialized gaging equipment and measuring the finished product. Additionally, the role involves training lower-classified employees, maintaining high-quality work with minimal errors, identifying and reporting non-conformances, and actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, TPM, kaizen events, and set-up reduction. Safety is paramount, and the operator must work safely at all times, participate in safety initiatives, and report any safety concerns.

Requirements

  • Qualified to set-up and operate a wide variety of gear shaping and grinding equipment from blueprints or process sheets.
  • Able to measure finish product.
  • Must possess a skill level that eliminates errors that cause nonconforming material.
  • Must work safely at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Gear Tooth Grinder and Gear Tooth Generator.
  • Select proper holding devices, cutters, and lubricants.
  • Perform final inspection with the use of special gaging equipment.
  • Measure finish product.
  • Assist or train other employees in lower classifications.
  • Maintain a consistent level of high-quality work, eliminating errors that cause nonconforming material.
  • Identify non-conformances at the time of occurrence.
  • Recognize opportunities for non-conformances and notify management of the need for action.
  • Refer difficulties to the leader or supervisor.
  • Actively participate in various aspects of Continuous Improvement projects (e.g., 5S, TPM, kaizen events, set-up reduction).
  • Work safely at all times.
  • Participate in safety improvement initiatives by raising safety concerns and helping to develop corrective actions.
  • May be assigned additional tasks within the scope and skill level of the job description to support department or cell objectives and develop individual skills.
