About The Position

Peak Design is opening a temporary pop-up shop in Bridgeport Village and is looking for a Gear Expert (Retail Associate) to welcome customers and share their passion for the brand's products. This role is more than a typical retail job, offering a dynamic environment where customers can explore gear, interact with the team, and learn about Peak Design. The staff act as hosts, product experts, educators, and instructors, creating a warm and welcoming space for a community of shared passion.

Requirements

  • Available for closing shifts approximately 12:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
  • Expert users of Peak Design gear or individuals with a genuine interest in quickly developing this knowledge.
  • Employees who will take pride in making the store a clean, friendly, and inviting place.
  • Creatives and adventurers (hobbyists or professionals) who can discuss products and understand customer needs.
  • Enjoy hosting, educating, and enthralling others, and are good listeners.
  • Actively involved in the community (e.g., attending Meetups, joining clubs, making connections).
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, such as retail or hospitality.
  • Personal or professional interest in or experience with products in the industry.
  • Constantly in a stationary position for prolonged periods (8+ hours).
  • Frequently moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions.
  • Frequently ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors into the space and help them explore gear and the brand.
  • Share stories, ask questions, and make customers feel at home.
  • Learn customer needs and advise them on the best solutions and gear.
  • Teach and inspire customers by sharing photography tricks, travel tips, and life experiences.
  • Greet and determine the needs of every customer.
  • Explain product uses and how they fit into the product ecosystem.
  • Handle product returns, warranty claims, and concerns.
  • Handle product support issues, both in-person and on the phone.
  • Operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Internalize customer feedback and provide it to the store manager.
  • Contribute ideas for making the store more inviting, inclusive, and dynamic.
  • Maintain an immaculate store environment, both inside and outside.
  • Ensure products on the floor are neatly assembled and hung correctly.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized stock area.
