About The Position

West Monroe is hiring a Senior Architect for our growing Enterprise Technology practice! This role will focus on leading large-scale Google Cloud Platform (GCP) transformation initiatives and modernizing complex IT environments for a wide range of clients. The Senior Architect will serve as a trusted advisor to client executives, lead technical strategy and architecture decisions, and oversee the successful delivery of enterprise cloud migration and modernization programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale GCP migration and modernization initiatives from strategy through execution.
  • Demonstrated success serving as a lead architect or technical advisor for complex cloud transformation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of GCP services including Compute Engine, BigQuery, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, networking, IAM, and cloud security services.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise landing zones, cloud governance frameworks, security controls, and operating models within GCP.
  • Advanced proficiency with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, automation frameworks, and cloud-native deployment methodologies.
  • Experience leading DevOps, CI/CD, containerization, Kubernetes, platform engineering, and cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Strong executive communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.
  • Experience supporting business development activities including proposals, technical discovery, architecture assessments, and client presentations.
  • Ability to lead multiple workstreams and mentor technical teams in fast-paced consulting environments.
  • Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements (30–50%).

Nice To Haves

  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification strongly preferred.
  • Additional GCP certifications such as Professional Cloud Security Engineer, Professional Data Engineer, or Professional DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks including NIST, HIPAA, PCI, ISO, SOC, or regulated industry environments.
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms and cloud-native modernization initiatives.
  • Consulting experience leading enterprise cloud transformation programs across multiple industries.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead cloud architect and trusted advisor for enterprise clients, partnering with both technical and business stakeholders to define cloud strategies aligned to organizational goals.
  • Lead the assessment of current-state IT environments, facilitate executive and stakeholder workshops, gather requirements, and develop future-state cloud transformation roadmaps.
  • Architect, design, and oversee implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient GCP solutions across infrastructure, platform, and application modernization initiatives.
  • Lead large-scale on-premises to GCP migration programs, including portfolio assessment, migration planning, landing zone design, governance implementation, and execution oversight.
  • Establish and enforce enterprise cloud architecture standards, governance frameworks, security controls, and operational best practices across client environments.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple project workstreams, guiding delivery teams through architecture decisions, risk mitigation, and complex technical challenges.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and related automation technologies to enable scalable and repeatable cloud deployments.
  • Lead DevOps transformation efforts, including CI/CD pipeline architecture, containerization strategies, platform engineering, and cloud-native operating models.
  • Drive cloud cost optimization, operational excellence, reliability, and security initiatives across client cloud environments.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal development, technical solutioning, client pursuits, pre-sales discovery, architecture assessments, and executive presentations.
  • Mentor and coach architects, consultants, and engineers on cloud architecture best practices, technical leadership, and client engagement skills.
  • Contribute to practice development through thought leadership, solution accelerators, Center of Excellence initiatives, recruiting, training, and capability-building efforts.
  • Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to accelerate architecture analysis, solution development, and client delivery while applying sound judgment to ensure quality and accuracy.
